What’s in my cosmetic case?

January 08, 2015

I’m constantly changing my cosmetic case and what’s in it. Currently, this is what I have inside…

Cosmetic Case

Petals and Pumps

Cosmetic case:  “In Case of Emergency, Put Mascara on Yourself Before Helping Others.” I received this case from a dear friend of mine, and it’s special to me! It fits a lot (as you can see) and it’s just so cute!

Business Cards:  Yes, there are business cards in my cosmetic case! I have business cards stashed in every handbag, clutch, diaper bag and cosmetic case I have…You never know when an opportunity arises. Gotta be prepared.

Lip balm:  Eos lip balm is a MUST! I can’t help myself. And neither can my son Liam, who’s 2. When he finds the colorful egg-shaped balm, he can’t keep his little hands off of it. The lip balm is moisturizing, natural, fruity + smells good.

{ that little hand in my shot, going for the Eos lip balm! :) }

Travel size cream:  There’s always some kind of travel cream in my bag. I wash my hands a billion times a day, and this ‘Ultra Repair Cream’ is perfect for nourishing my hands throughout the day.

Mally Beauty Evercolor Eye Liner:  I had given up on eyeliner until this one came into my life! The colors are beautiful. They are so creamy + easy to apply. They are truly bulletproof. And I’m starting to hoard these! » shown in “Lucky Penny.”

Amazonian Clay Blush:  Tarte is one of my favorite brands. And in my opinion, they have the best blush. This brand is built upon offering non-toxic, eco-friendly beauty products, that deliver! » shown in “Blissful.”

Chubby Shadow Stick:  Because you never know when you need a little touch-up! This one is neutral + has a little sparkle. So I can pop it on my lids anytime. » shown is “Bountiful Beige.”

Butter Gloss:  This lip gloss has been all over my instagram. It’s one of my new favorites, and is part of my December Beauty Round Up Series » see post here. » shown in “I Believe.”

Highlighter:  Obsessed with a couple of highlighters…this is one of them! This is what I love about it:  It’s soft glow, creamy texture + beautiful “dewy” appearance to the skin.

Marc Jacobs Spray Pen:  The perfect fragrance + size to pop into your bag. Because who doesn’t need an extra spray throughout the day?! ‘Daisy Eau So Fresh,’ is flirty, fruity, fresh + a little musky all at the same time. One of my faves!

Sample Size Mascara:  Admittedly, this is not my favorite mascara. But I keep little ones like this handy for touch-ups, or in case I left my house without mascara on. I hate when that happens.

Naked Lip gloss:  This is my first and only lip gloss by urban decay. But it won’t be my last! I really like the color + the way it looks and feels on my lips. It’s conditioning, long-wear formula is great. » shown in “Sesso.” a shimmery-rose shade. Part of the “On The Run” palette.

December Beauty/Skin Care Round Up

January 05, 2015

I’ve decided to add a Beauty + Skin Care Round Up Series. At the end of each month, I will share with you my favorite/must-try products that I have been using during the month. December is my first round-up post. I hope you guys enjoy this new monthly series!

December Beauty and Skin care Round Up

Kiss Pro Instawave Automatic Curler | Lorac Tantalizer Bronzer + Highlighter | IT Cosmetics Vitality Lip Flush Butter Gloss | Josie Maran Milk Hydrating Treatment

Instawave:  I’ve had this automatic curler for nearly 2 weeks. I don’t use it everyday. I don’t need to with the type of hair I have – thick, long + naturally wavy. I get my hair blown-out weekly, and I prefer my stylist give me loose curls. She uses a flat-iron to create the curls. But after about the 3rd day in, I need to re-curl my hair + I wanted to find something new to try besides using my flat-iron.

Kiss Pro Instawave

I’m happy I came across a presentation on this curler on QVC. Had I not seen a demonstration, I probably would pass this up if I would have just seen it in a store.

Honestly, It did take me a few days to get the hang of it, but now I think it’s great! I suggest watching the product video to see if it’s something you could get used to» view video here.

I also believe the Instawave would work better on women who have longer, thicker hair. Since the hair wraps itself around the barrel, I think someone with fine hair would have trouble getting a good curl.

Tantalizer:  I’ve been using this highlighter and matte bronzer duo for 3 weeks. I love it! It’s a generous size, so it should last a while. I like that the powder highlighter isn’t glittery. Instead, it adds a nice glow to my skin with subtle sparkle. I also like how the bronzer is a true matte brown shade. It has no sparkle, glitter, nothing to it. So if I don’t want to highlight that day, I don’t have to worry about a sparkly bronzer all over my face. I think it looks very natural on.

LORAC Tantalizer

LORAC Tantalizer

Petals and Pumps

{ I’m wearing the Tantalizer – applied lightly here, but you can go darker. }

Lipgloss:  Seriously, this lipgloss has to be one of my favorite gloss purchases in a long while. I’ve had it for 3 weeks, and have been using it frequently. This gloss truly feels like butter on my lips. It’s not at all sticky! I love the color (it’s a perfect mauve-pink), the hydration my lips get, and the staying-power. I can’t wait to try the other shades.

It Cosmetics Vitality Butter Gloss

{ color:  ‘I Believe‘ }

Vitality Butter Lipgloss

Milk Treatment:  Love, love, love this serum! I’ve been using it (on and off) for 8 months. But every time I come back to it because it just truly works. When I’m faithfully using it day + night, I see that my face is more radiant, more hydrated + just overall feels/looks better. And it’s organic skin care! What’s better than that?!

Josie Maran Milk Treatment

So there ya have it, my beauty + skin care picks for December. Tell me what you think. Have you tried any of these products?

Baby FAVES (+ a few for momma)

Baby FAVES

As many of you may know, I had my second baby boy (Mason Nicolas) almost 10 weeks ago. He is such a sweet baby, so calm + happy. His big brother Liam (who will be turning two next month) loves him to pieces! They are the loves of my life! ♥

Since having Mason, I’ve racked-up some more favorites >> some items listed above are for me also, to make my life just a liiiiittle bit easier. Most of the products I use on a daily basis. If you’re expecting or have a friend or family member having a baby, pass this information along. I hope you/they will find these products as useful as I have!

1| Nuk manual breast pump:  I have an expensive electric breast pump as well (since having my first baby). But I wanted to try a manual too because I just get so sick + tired of all the tubes, hooking up to everything, the noise, feeling like a cow being milked…just all the crappiness that comes along with electric pumping! Well, this manual pump is actually more of a pleasant experience. I use it for those in-between times when I just need to store some milk or empty my breast because I feel too full. It’s comfortable, quick + easy to use. I mostly use it while I’m watching TV + I can usually get around 3 oz. in 10-15 min. Since buying this pump, I have not used my electric. It’s got rave reviews online. I can see why!

2| Baby foam shampoo:  I love Mustela products. I received this one as a gift + I’m so glad I did! This foam shampoo works especially great if your baby has cradle cap (dry, flaky skin – similar to dandruff). Mason had a mild form of it + after just 3 uses, it was gone. I LOVE the clean, fresh baby smell + how silky soft his hair is afterwards (Mason was born with a full head of hair + still has it!). I still use it although he doesn’t have cradle cap, it’s still a good everyday shampoo.

3| The best rocker ever invented!:  One word: Hallelujah! Yes, it’s that good. The rockaRoo by 4moms is the best! Mason loves it. When I need my hands-free for cooking + getting things done (like this post), I put Mason in the rocker + he’s entertained for a good while or he ends up falling asleep. 4moms also makes the mamaRoo, which I hear nothing but great things about that version too. A MUST to add to your registry!

4| The Quint Carryall:  A great organizer for almost any handbag. I use this when I don’t want/need to carry my larger diaper bag » (find my diaper bag here). I pop this carryall in my TB tote (find my Tory Burch here) and I’m on my way!

5| Honestly good face + body lotion:  My whole house is filled with chemical-free products. I’m a huge believer in keeping my environment + my kids as natural as possible. That’s why I LOVE The Honest Company! I get products for my house + the babies sent right to my door every month (which means 55 less trips a week to Target for me- haha!). I use everything from the diapers to bath products to laundry detergent from The Honest Co. I’m a fan of this lotion because of the crappy chemicals that it doesn’t have in it, how it absorbs into my babies’ skin, the fresh scent + how hydrating it is. » (sign up for a free trial OR subscribe to a monthly bundle here).

6| This cute traveling play pad:  These play pads from blablakids are so cute, so cuddly-cushy (100% cotton) + great for taking to a family members’ house or to the park. It obviously travels well, but I use it in my home all the time too.

7| Room spray: Diaper pails tend to get a little stinky sometimes! This room spray is my favorite. It has a great fresh, pure baby scent. It’s worth it + a big bottle like this last forever!

8| Baby Cottons sleepwear:  Ever since Liam was born I have been a loyal Baby Cottons client!  He + Mason have tons of footies, rompers + sets from BC. I love them so much because (although pricey), their items are soooo soft » all made from 100% pima cotton, they wash incredible + last forever! Mason uses some from when Liam was an infant. They’ve been washed/used 1000 times over + his clothes are still perfect! Nothing compares.

9| This nursing tank:  When I’m at home, I’m mostly in loungewear. And this cami is perfect to wear around the house. It’s comfortable, stretchy + easy to use while nursing» I own 4.

10| Dry Shampoo:  Another time saver + hair saver! No Drought, absorbs the excess oils in my thick hair perfectly- allowing my blow dry to last a few days longer. It has a nice citrus fresh scent + adds a little volume also. For busy moms – it’s a MUST!

11| My favorite multi-tasking makeup product:  This ‘Full Coverage SPF 50 CC+ Cream’ by IT Cosmetics is EVERYTHING! It’s my full-coverage foundation cream, anti-aging serum + SPF. One product and I’m out the door! It’s formulated with good-for-your-skin ingredients + it’s just so easy to use. It helps correct my skin tone + imperfections, infuses my skin with peptides + vitamins (+more), + leaves my skin looking dewy! LOVE-LOVE-LOVE♥ (FYI a little goes a LONG way). The best value is found on QVC.

So tell me moms, what are your FAVES?

Beauty Spotlight: IT Cosmetics Makeup Brushes

November 04, 2014

In my new P+P series: Beauty Spotlight, I will feature a product + review it!

It Cosmetics Makeup Brushes

My first Beauty Spotlight (review) goes to It Cosmetics.

You don’t have to be a makeup junkie to know that good makeup brushes are an essential part to applying your makeup flawlessly. The better the brushes are, the easier they pick up the product + the smoother the product goes onto your skin. Blending is another key to a flawless face! Fluffy, dense, smooth brushes will practically do the work for you – blend, blend, blend.

There’s nothing I hate more than those makeup brushes that poke my face when I’m applying my makeup…or better yet, those brushes that leave you with a hairy face! >>You know what I mean. A brush that leaves more hairs on your face than you woke up with is a NO-NO!

I was in need of new (GOOD) makeup brushes. And because I’m a fan of QVC‘s beauty shows, I already knew how desirable It Cosmetics brushes are. So I decided to pop-in to my local ULTA beauty store to purchase a few.

IT Cosmetics brushes are wonderful! They are cruelty-free, fluffy, luxuriously soft + dense brushes (dense brushes=more hairs. More hairs help to pick up the product and lay down it flawlessly).

Makeup Brushes

I’ve been using my new brushes for about 2 weeks now + they are even better than I had hoped they would be!

Pro’s:

They feel luxurious + soft on my face.

The product picks up great + lays down effortlessly.

I found that they easily follow the contours of my face.

Easily blends in my makeup.

High color payoff.

Most of the brushes I purchased can be use with cream or powder products (= multipurpose), I love that.

The brushes are easy to hold with a rounded comfort-grip handle.

They clean + dry well.

Con’s:

They are more expensive than your usual brushes. But you get what you pay for.

But I’m sure, with proper care, these will be the last makeup brushes I’ll ever need to buy again!
