Dry Brushing

I heard about dry brushing through a Holistic Nutritionist over a year ago. I am now finally trying it and been dry brushing for almost 3 weeks. I wanted to share with you what dry brushing is, why it’s so beneficial, and why you should add it to your weekly skin care routine.

What is dry brushing:  Using a firm body brush to promote healthier skin from the inside—out.

The benefits:  An excellent way to exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin cells. If you dry brush regularly, it improves the appearance of cellulite making the skin look and feel firmer. Dry brushing also stimulates circulation which helps naturally detoxify the skin.

I also do it before I self tan to prep my skin, or after to help remove dry patches in-between my faux tans. Dry brushing helps my products I use absorb better into my skin. I have personally noticed smoother, less dry skin thus far.

How to do it:  Use the dry brush on dry skin 5-10 minutes before showering. Start at your feet and work upwards to your heart using circular and upward motions. Start dry brushing every other day, and then daily if you want. Dry brushing should feel good, a tingling or invigorating feeling. It should NOT hurt.

I really enjoy the invigorating feeling I get during dry brushing and a few minutes after. If you do it for a few minutes in the morning, it really helps you ‘wake-up!’ I imagine that tingling feeling is my body detoxifying.

What to get:  I got my body brush at Whole Foods Market. But you can find one here and here.

Cleansing wipes | moisturizing face oil | beauty elixir | la creme lip cream {Lollipop} | la creme lip cream {Nude Beach} | perfect lips lip liner {Perfect Nude} | ambient lighting powder {Dim Light} | foundation {N153} | Lash extension kit

Yesterday I went to Sephora specifically for a foundation I’ve been wanting to try. Of course, that’s not the only thing I ended up buying – all willpower is gone the minute I step into Sephora (and ULTA and Nordstrom)! I tried.

Sephora Beauty Haul

The Make Up Forever foundation was what originally brought me to the store. Because I’ve been needing a medium coverage foundation, I decided to give it a shot. I’ve heard lots of good things about this brand and this foundation- I’ll let you know how it goes.

Another product I’ve been longing to try is the Hourglass Lighting Powder. It’s used for highlighting the cheekbone and other areas of the face you want to bring out. When I swatched the ‘Dim Light’ in the store, I loved the subtle lit-from-within appearance it gave me. Perfect for my olive complexion. And FYI It has not glitter or shimmer.

When I tested the Fresh Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil on my hand yesterday, I really enjoyed how nicely it absorbed into my skin, and best of all, how smooth and dewy my hand looked as well! That’s why I purchased it. I used it once last night and this morning already + it’s incredible so far.

Too Faced Lipstick Swatch

I just couldn’t pass up on these creamy lip colors by Too Faced. The color swatch above does not do these justice! The colors are so pigmented + beautiful. The formula is so creamy + hydrating. I’m going to enjoy playing with these!

Too Faced lip liner swatch

This is the Perfect Lips lip liner also by Too Faced. I’ve needed a nude-rose shade liner for a long time to pair with my nude + pink lipsticks.

Thanks for reading + have a great weekend!
